c. 1946-1947 Gibson LG-2
Gibson introduced their LG Series of guitars in 1942. The LG series consisted of a narrower lower body, but wider shoulders compared to its predecessor, the L Series. The LG-2 was the second of three LG models offered, and had a spruce top with an X-bracing structure. The LG-2 quickly became one of Gibson's most popular smaller body flattop guitars.
The immediate post-World War II LG-2 models were produced in limited runs, as Gibson's Kalamazoo, Michigan factory was transitioning back into full time guitar production after the war. The LG-2s produced from 1946-1948 do not have serial numbers and are dated based on features, including the gold scripted "Gibson" logo on the headstock and the orange-colored sunburst finish. Gibson produced the LG-2 from 1942 until 1962, when it was replaced with the B-25.
