Dan Fogelberg (1951-2007) was a singer and songwriter known for his 1980s soft rock songs "Longer," "Leader of the Band," and the holiday song "Same Old Lang Syne." Fogelberg began as a Nashville session musician in the 1970s before embarking on a solo career that saw him record 14 solo studio albums, two albums with jazz flutist Tim Weisberg, and several live and compilation albums. His 1979 album "Phoenix" peaked at Number 3 in the U.S. Billboard chart, and six of his albums achieved platinum status.
