Description1952 Gibson Les Paul Standard Gold Top, no serial number, with trapeze tailpiece and bound fingerboard, in original case.

This is Gibson’s first iteration of a Les Paul branded guitar. It features a gold finish, which remained part of the Les Paul guitar’s design until 1958 – leading to their nickname of “Gold Tops.”

The 1952 model featured a trapezoid tailpiece, which was replaced the following year at Les Paul’s request. Two single-coil P-90 pickups gave this guitar its distinctive sound.
