DescriptionA 1970s-era Mead spiral-bound notebook with early notes and dialogue for the film Rocky (1976). It contains approximately 28 pages in Stallone's hand with early and original plot details, scene specifications, dialogue passages, and character development concepts with numerous edits, notations and alterations throughout.

Rocky was written by Stallone after watching Muhammad Ali defeat Chuck Wepner in March 1975. Stallone also starred in the film as the title character.

Rocky tells the fictional story of boxer Rocky Balboa, a small-time, Philadelphia-based boxer selected as a replacement fighter against heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. The film culminates in Rocky’s upset of Creed in a fifteen-round split decision.

Rocky was the highest grossing film of 1976 and won the Academy Award for Best Picture. In 2001, it was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
