The chairback reads "Governor."Jerry Lewis (1926-2017) was an American comedian, actor, and filmmaker known as "The King of Comedy." Lewis began his career partnered with singer Dean Martin, appearing as a comedy duo in club acts, on television, and in film. Lewis went on to have his own film career starting in the 1950s. Lewis wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the 1960 film The Bellboy, directed and starred in the The Nutty Professor (1963), and played a talk-show host and comedian in The King of Comedy (1982). On television, Lewis was the host of The Jerry Lewis Show, a series of variety shows from 1963 to 1984.
