Steve Earle's 1997 Moon Mandolin
Earle first discovered Jimmy Moon's Glasgow, Scotland shop while touring the UK and Ireland in 1997 when the airline lost his mandolin. His guitar tech went to Moon guitars for a replacement and Earle used a Moon during the "El Corazon Tour." He continued to use the Moon calling it "the guitar player's mandolin" during the "Transcendental Blues" and "Jerusalem" tours.
Steve Earle (b. 1955) is an American singer-songwriter, best known for his debut album Guitar Town (1986) featuring his bestselling single “Copperhead Road.” Earle has released 21 studio albums and won three Grammy Awards.
Moon Guitars was established in 1979 by Jimmy Moon in a small shop in Scotland. Moon's reputation quickly grew, requiring him to relocate his shop to Glasgow in 1985. Moon first produced electric guitars before later expanding his business to acoustic instruments, including mandolins. Musicians who have played Moon's instruments include Adele, Bryan Adams, and Steve Earle.
