Gibson released the John Lennon "Imagine" J-160E in 2010 to commemorate 70 years since Lennon's birth. Only 70 of these guitars were produced, in consultation with Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono. The all-white finish of the guitars was chosen by Ono "to reflect the sentiment of John's life and music during the recording of Imagine." Lennon's relationship to the Gibson J-160E model goes back to 1962. The Beatles were in their infancy, and with little money to afford a new guitar, Lennon co-signed for a coveted J-160E with the band's manager, Brian Epstein.
