Artist Grace Slick (b. 1939) rose to fame in the 1960s psychedelic music scene of San Francisco, California. Slick was the singer of the band Jefferson Airplane, and the later iterations of the band Jefferson Starship and Starship. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of Jefferson Airplane. After retiring from music, Slick began a career as a painter and artist.
