DescriptionBo Diddley's c. 2005 Gretsch Bo Diddley Signature G6138 guitar, serial number JT06073686, rectangular shaped semi-hollow body in Firebird Red with gold hardware, three-piece rock maple neck, ebony fretboard with pearl dot inlays, 1957-style headstock, two High Sensitive Filter'Tron humbucking pickups, Adjusto-Matic bridge, G-cutout tailpiece, and a special Bo Diddley signature truss rod cover. Housed in a Gretsch hard case.

Diddley received this guitar around 2005 through his endorsement deal with Fender, the manufacturer of Gretsch guitars. Diddley received three of these rectangular guitars - his signature style - and used them at his in-home studio in Archer, Florida.

Bo Diddley (1928-2008), born Ellas Otha Bates, was a pioneer of rock and roll. His take on traditional blues music helped spur the new popular music genre and influenced artists such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles.

Diddley was an inventive guitar player, known for his use of tremolo and reverb effects. His often covered 1955 single “Bo Diddley” laid the foundation for rock, hip-hop, and modern R&B music with the use of an Afro-Cuban inspired clave beat.
