Description1939 C.F. Martin & Co. 000-18, serial number 72210, with "shaded top" sunburst finish. The guitar is an Auditorium sized instrument, with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fretboard. It has a full 1 ¾” width at the nut and the prewar string spacing at the bridge.

Martin produced a number of guitars with "shaded tops" starting around 1930. These guitars featured a sunburst pattern body compared to Martin's traditional natural body style. Although records are incomplete, research shows that Martin shipped less than ten of the shaded top 000-18 model guitars in 1939.
