1949 Gibson Super 400
The Gibson Super 400 was introduced in 1934 and given the "400" model number in reference to its $400 price (equivalent to roughly $9,000 in 2024). The Super 400 was the largest guitar in Gibson's lineup at the time of its introduction, and has since been reissued in several variations. Notable Super 400 players are Merle Travis, Bill Haley, and Keith Richards (Rolling Stones).
