DescriptionA hand-built custom pickup winder, created by Charlie Davis, and used at the original Fender factory in Fullerton, California. The pickup winder consists of a wooden base with a Dayton motor and custom winding mechanism affixed to a pickup bobbin mount. Also affixed to the wooden base is a metal counter, which counted the wire rotations as the pickup winder spun wire around the pickup coils.

According to a letter from Mike Eldred, former Fender employee, this pickup winder was used by Fender employees beginning in the 1950s and was maintained by Charlie Davis until his retirement from Fender. Davis was a longtime Fender employee, noted for his skill in creating and repairing guitar pickups.
